Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Program
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most effective grappling art for self-defense due to the art’s emphasis on using technique and leverage over size and strength to control and submit an opponent. BJJ is a great total body workout, and is both a physically and mentally stimulating way to get in great shape.
Focus on Fundamentals - You don’t need any prior martial arts or athletic experience to get started. We offer Fundamentals Classes multiple times a week where you will learn the basics of BJJ and grappling from experienced coaches and martial artists. Here at Bayshore BJJ, we want our students to train for the rest of their lives and setting our students up for long-term success is a top priority for us.
Detailed Instruction - We don’t just show you the moves and techniques at Bayshore BJJ, we teach you the details and mechanics behind the move so you understand when, how, and why specific techniques are used in certain situations. Professor Joe has trained and studied with the top instructors and competitors in the world and has used what he has learned in competition and teaching both children and adults.
Safe and Friendly Training Environment - Stepping into a martial arts gym can be very intimidating. We do our best to eliminate any nervousness or apprehensions by providing a safe and friendly training environment for all of our Jiu Jitsu students. Our gym’s culture is welcoming, friendly, and collaborative and our students are encouraged to help their fellow classmates and ask coaches questions.
Great Total Body Workout - Did you know you can burn 700 plus calories during a one-hour BJJ workout? During class, you will use all of your muscles in your body during warm ups, drilling, and live training. You will improve your conditioning, get stronger, and improve your overall movement and coordination through Jiu Jitsu. Additionally, we can help you with diet and nutrition tips that will help you improve your overall health and well-being.
Gi and NoGi Classes - You will learn two styles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under one roof. We offer classes in the traditional BJJ kimono/gi and NoGi grappling. Both styles emphasize technique and leverage over strength and brawn which allows a smaller opponent to overcome. Within both styles, you will learn self-defense, get a great workout, learn techniques that can be applied in Sports BJJ and Mixed Martial Arts.
